Thoughts for 2007 and 2008 brides and grooms

• How many guests will you be having?
• do you need space for a dance floor?
• Do you need space for bar, buffet tables, headtable, dj, band, cake table etc.
• what type of tables would you be using? round or long?
• What surface would the tent be going on: grass, gravel, asphalt etc.
• Location of tent: where in southern Ontario would the tent be installed?
• Do you have enough room for a tent in your back yard? We need 5feet around the tent for the guys ropes.
• Do you have any underground locates that we need to know about? gas, water, bell line , hydro lines above tent etc
• What is the date of your wedding?
• Do you need any extra tents for the caterer or for the bathrooms?

INFO FOR BUILDING PERMIT

The customer is responsible for securing all temporary building permits, Drumbo Tent

Company will be happy to supply you with all required-back-up structural documentation.

You must give your building department 3-4weeks . lead time on any

building permit.

When you go the building department.

You must bring with you:

• Flame-retardant letter.
• Engineer stamped drawing.
• signed commitment form from engineer.
• site plan from customer.
• chq. or cash for building permit in your area.
• Eng. Inspection of tent lined up by us on day of tent set-up.

You should phone your local building department and ask what they require for your

sq.ft. of tent.

Tent Installation questions

What type of surface ex. Grass, Asphalt, Gravel

What is the size of yard or area.

Is there any Gas, Electric or Water lines in the tent site area.

Is there any overhead obstructions, trees, hydro, other ostructions, streets, patios, deck, plants, gardens or trees.

Please note: when setting up we need room for staking tent.
Please add 10ft to length and width in total tent size.

Example: 30'X50' tent rented would need a total space of 40'X60' but could do it with a little less.

• What kind of event is it.
• What are you going to do under the tent : Example, reception, cocktail party, dance, ceremony etc.
• How many people are attending.
• Will they be using tables and chairs.
• What type of tables: long tables or round tables
• Will there be other things to be set up: headtable, buffet tables dancing, dj, live band, bar tables, bar area, gift tables, cake table or presentation tables.

Drumbo Tent Company
About 1890, Alfred D. Enticknap came from Plattsville to Drumbo and bought a tinsmith and hardware business from Kaufman and Erb. It was located on the northeast corner of Wilmot and Oxford Street.

In 1900, he advertised that he manufactured awnings, tents, fire escapes, all kinds of wire goods, truck and bag holders. He invented the first awning gear.

Alfred Martin joined his father in the company and it became A.D. Enticknap and Son Company. After Alfred D. retired, the business was carried on by Alfred Martin and his wife, Alberta Dennis, a public school teacher. They decided to concentrate on the manufacture of tents and awnings and sold the tinsmith and hardware business to R.C. Cowan.

Alberta died in 1938 and Alfred M. Enticknap died in 1946. Their family consisted of two daughters. Daughter Evelyn married John A. Taylor.

The Taylors (in 1947) decided to carry on the business. In 1955, the Taylors moved their operations into a new building on Wilmot Street South. The business is still carried on in this location by John A.'s son, John Martin and his wife Laura, as well as grandson, JR and his wife Monica Taylor and great great granddaughter Jessica Evelyn Taylor.

John A. Taylor passed away on June 10, 2001.

Additional info:

The business name was changed to Drumbo Tent and Awning in 1955.

Now that the business is specializing in tent rentals, it's name has once again changed to

Drumbo Tent Company Limited.

Things to check for before installing a tent:

• Telephone Lines(bell Canada).*
• Hydro (local hydro company).*
• Water (local municipal works department).*
• Natural Gas(Consumers Gas or other local gas company).*
• Swimming pool lines.
• Lawn Sprinkler lines.
• Hydro lines above in the air.*
• You should give at least two weeks notice if not more to these utilities.
• Telephone contact numbers for the above organizations should be in your local phone directory. Organizations normally perform checks for underground services for free. They will need the correct advanced time to work out there schedule.

You should either have someone on site at the time of installation to inform the the crew chief regarding the location of underground utilities, or forward us a site map clearly showing any underground services, containing accurate dimensions.
